Today’s rumor du jour has Apple releasing not one, but two iPads this year. According to Digitimes, a source in Taiwan has provided them with sufficient evidence, so they’ve published that Apple will be releasing both the iPad 3 and iPad 4 this year.
It’s getting to the point where you’re pretty safe to assume that any rumors from Digitimes are complete garbage, and the complete opposite will actually happen. If you don’t believe us, take the latest rumor as a case in point:
Apple will ship the so-called “iPad 3” with a full HD display in March and then “iPad 4” – named so by its component suppliers – with killer applications in October, according to industry sources in Taiwan.
The HD iPad, also known as a Retina display iPad, has been in the rumor mill quite a bit lately. It’s probably safe to assume that the iPad will get a better, crisper display at some point in the future. But, a new iPad just so it can have “killer applications” is a bit of a lark. The only way Digitimes can save some face with the rumor is if they mean “application,” as in anything but a computer program, and more like a new utility.
We’ve been hearing the two iOS devices released in one year rumor for almost an entire year now. Wishing it into existence isn’t going to make it reality. Just ask the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 that was supposed to be released in 2011. Like we said in the title, not likely.
