While Apple likes to proudly use its “It Just Works” slogan, this hasn’t been the case for the company’s iMessage and FaceTime apps this week. The services went down today for the second time in three days and are now back up after a couple hours of downtime.
Apple’s status website, which is supposed to list when certain Apple services are down, has also been receiving criticism. During the two outages, the website has taken over an hour to show that iMessage and FaceTime were in fact experiencing difficulties.
While iMessage experiences issues like this fairly regularly, it’s highly unusual that it happens twice in three days for an extended period of time. It’s unknown whether this is just a coincidence, high server usage, or Apple doing something different on its end.
