The Lincoln Park Apple Store in Chicago just had a car drive through it. Yup. What looks to be a limo drove straight through the front doors of the store, right into an accessory shelf. It looks like the giant MacBook Pro with Retina display in the front of the store was also knocked over along with the big-screen TV that sits in the front of the store and is used for free classes at the store. A display table also looks to have been knocked over. One person was hurt in the crash according to the Chicago Tribune.
The Lincoln Park Apple Store is one of Apple’s newer stores and is the second Apple Store in the city of Chicago. It features a beautiful rectangle design and is located right next to a CTA Red Line stop, which Apple remodeled when building the store. The subway stop is loaded with Apple advertisements.
As a Chicagoan, I frequent this store quite often and am honestly not surprised that this happened. Chicago drivers can be pretty crazy, and it was just a matter of time until one flew through an Apple Store window. Also, there wasn’t any snow on the ground today, and little ice, so we’re not really sure why the driver lost control.
