Apple has been pretty vague about when orders for the new iPod touch will start shipping, saying nothing more than an October shipping timeframe. Apple has been taking orders since last month and today the first orders for the fifth-generation iPod touch have officially been shipped.
An AppleInsider reader has confirmed that their order for the new iPod touch has been shipped from China and is on the way to the U.S. with a delivery estimated to arrive before next Monday, October 15.
Similar to the iPhone 5, supply of the new iPod touch is said to be limited. Both the iPhone 5 and fifth-generation iPod touch use the same 4-inch Retina display screen, and iPhone 5 supply has been in short supply since it first launched in September. The new iPod touch is more like the iPhone 5 than any previous iPod touch.
While we now know that iPod touch orders have begun shipping, there’s still no word on when the updated iPod nano lineup will begin shipping. It was also previously scheduled for this month, but Apple’s online store is still vague, saying that both the iPod touch and iPod nano will ship in October.
