Apple has just made iWork for iCloud available to some iCloud users. The Cupertino-based technology giant has sent out invitations to general users to test its service. The invited users have also had Pages, Keynote, and Numbers icons added to their iCloud dashboards. Not all iCloud users have been invited to the service yet, but we should see more users being added to the program as time rolls by in the coming months. I’ve been added to the beta as of Friday morning.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Apple’s iWork for iCloud services available for general public use before its official release. Anyone who visits the iCloud beta page will be brought to a standard sign-in page where beta builds of the iWork web apps can be used. A developer account is not required for access.
iWork for iCloud was introduced in June at Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) event in San Francisco, California. The service brings full copies of the three iWork applications to the web free of charge to all iCloud users. Both Mac and PC users can use the web apps if an account has been given access to the early betas of the web apps. All documents created and edited within iWork for iCloud are synced with the iOS and native OS X version of the service, making for seamless switching between devices.
