Apple has pushed a couple more channels to the Apple TV today, an act that’s quickly becoming a common occurance. Today, the channels pushed to the Apple TV include the company’s latest iTunes Festival App, as well as a new Showtime Anytime offering.
The first, Apple’s iTunes Festival app, is added (and removed) fairly regularly year after year around the back-to-school season. You’ll be able to stream the concerts from the festival live as they roll out during the month of September. There will be 30 shows in 30 nights, all streamable from within the app. This year the company has Deadmau5, David Guetta, and Pharrell Williams, amongst others.
The second, Showtime Anytime, offers free, but limited, content to all users. The channel will include both live, and on-demand content for anyone with a subscription to Showtime through their cable provider.
As always, the availability of these channels depends on the country you live in or have your Apple TV tied to through DNS servers. Showtime Anytime isn’t available in Canada, but the iTunes Festival app is currently on Apple TV in the Great White North.
I’ll never understand why Bell, Rogers, or the CBC isn’t out there getting their content onto the Apple TV. Talk about a missed opportunity. Oh wait. This is why.
