Apple’s long-awaited September press event is on! Apple sent invitations to the press on Thursday for a media event that will take place on September 9th, 2014 at 10am. The invitation reads “Wish we could says more,” with an oversized Apple logo in the background.
This year’s event will take place at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino—not far from Apple’s headquarters. This is a change of venue for the company as September iPhone announcements usually take place at the Yerba Buena Center in downtown San Francisco. The Flint Center holds some importance in Apple history, though: It’s where Apple introduced both the original Macintosh and the iMac, according to The Loop.
It’s probably safe to assume that Apple will announce a new iPhone at the event, since that has been Apple’s M.O. for the past few years. Rumors and speculation also suggest that Apple will get into the wearables game and announce a smartwatch. Additionally, we will likely hear more on iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, and hopefully get a solid release date for the new OSes.
