Heads up! This may quite possibly be my favorite compilation of Apps of the Week yet.
I’ve been looking for a cool way to add simple text to my Instagram photos. Who says no to a digital assistant that gives you information you need before you even have to ask for it? I’ve been wanting an easier way to organize and sort through my massive RSS feed. Top it all off with the chance to experience a classic old game and become a crazy cab driver. This is going to be fun.

The iPhone: Typic
We all know a picture is worth a thousand words, but what if you could add just one more? Typic by Hi Mom is an app that lets you easily add captions to your photos. It’s simple to do and fun to use. It’ll even let you add filters to your photos before you export them to Instagram. Oh, and it’s free!
The process is highly intuitive and options are easy to manipulate. Choose from existing photos or take a new one right in the app. Pick a filter, write a caption, choose your font and font size. To take things to the next level you can play around with text opacity, size and color of your frame, and lens blur.
What’s the point of putting all this effort into a picture without sharing it? Typic will let you save your work of art to your camera roll, email, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. I’m PUMPED about using this app.

The iPad: MindMeld
There’s someone listening in on your conversations, but not in a creepy way. MindMeld is a new iPad app coming soon from Expect Labs that will listen in on your video conversations and, via speech recognition technology, provide relevant information based on what you’re chatting about.
Here’s how it works: The app will figure out the general topic of conversation and provide you with some online content that may be relevant, in real time. Could be from the web, from Facebook, anywhere online. To share the content, simply drag-and-drop into the conversation panel. If you want to come back to reference the content at another time, MindMeld will save the timeline of each chat. As your conversation changes, so does the information it offers you.
Sounds interesting and I’m sure this will grab the attention of every marketer out there. Creators of the app say it wasn’t designed with advertising in mind but could be used for targeted marketing. Duh!

The Mac: Cream
You’re a news junkie. You have your RSS feed set up to pull in all the stories from all your favorite sources. But, there’s just not enough time in the day to go through every single one. Don’t you wish someone could curate the massive list and flag the best content for you? Let me introduce you to a little app called Cream.
Created by The Mental Factory, this lightweight newsreader monitors what you read and learns your preferences. It will then “sort out the sweet from the sour, skimming off the creamiest stories”. Cream uses technology developed for junk mail filtering to find stories you’ll like. Not only does it pay attention to what you do and do not read, it also learns your favorite writers.
Whether you want to read stories right away or save them for later, Cream has got you covered. All you have to do is pay the $4.99 and you’ll be on your way to a more streamlined news reading experience. Bon voyage!

Game Of The Week: Crazy Taxi
If you were too young to experience Crazy Taxi back in 2000, now is your chance! As a crazy taxi driver, your job is to make as much cash as you can by picking up customers and dropping them off at their destinations as quickly as possible. If that means you need to run some lights, smash into some cars and take out a pedestrian or two, then do it.
You can choose from 3, 5 and 10 minute game play in Arcade or Original Mode. Choose whether you want to play with touch or tilt controls. Enjoy great tunes while you rush around the city with original music by The Offspring and Bad Religion playing over your radio.
For $4.99, you can get this hugely popular Dreamcast Classic right on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. I shelled out the cash and it was money well spent. The music is awesome, the game play is exciting and the characters’ reactions are hilarious to watch when you don’t get them to their destination quickly enough.
