Facebook Messenger, an app for Facebook’s IM service, has just been updated to version 2.0. This update brings a ton of new features as well as a redesign to the application. These changes are welcomed by most users as the app hasn’t changed much since its first iteration. Facebook Messenger’s new design looks surprisingly similar to that of the standard Facebook app as it features a “pull out” menu for viewing your available contacts. The in-chat interface has also received a nice update and looks more like the standard Messages app on iOS that is used for SMS and iMessage.
The Facebook Messenger app now better supports iOS 6 and the iPhone 5. The app can now take advantage of the iPhone 5 and fifth-generation iPod touch’s 4-inch screen.
Personally, Facebook messenger was on top of my list of apps that I wanted to be updated for the iPhone 5. Facebook is slowly replacing SMS for myself and many others, so it’s important to have the best and most fluid experience possible on an app that’s used multiple times a day.
If, for some reason, you don’t already have the Facebook Messenger app, we’ve dropped a download link below this post.
