Tim Cook may be doubling down on secrecy at Apple, but it seems that he was just trumped by the company’s own search engine just hours before Apple’s set to announce a bunch of new products. A quick search on Apple’s search engine has revealed references to inactive PR articles and a product page that reveals that the company is actually releasing new iPhones, iPods, and iTunes 11 at the very least today.
It’s Going To Be The iPhone 5
Two Apple rumors sites, MacRumors and 9to5Mac, have noticed that by searching for “iPhone-5” in Apple’s search engine, the Apple website turns up an iPhone 5 tips page, which wouldn’t be the first time a mobile phone from Apple has its very own tips page. While there doesn’t appear to be a page available for the iPhone 4S, there is a page published for the iPhone 4. It highlights iOS features, and other nifty apps that are available only on the iPhone 4. We can probably expect the same for this iPhone 5 page once it goes live.
iTunes 11 Is Going Live Today
It also appears that a site search reveals an unpublished PR page on the impending release of iTunes 11. There’s been no rumors suggesting that the music application will be updated today, but it seems like it’s something we could very well see during the announcement. Hopefully we don’t get a Ping rebranding.
LTE In The iPhone?
The search also reveals that the iPhone could have LTE (4G technology).
As always these could just be page holders that were set up months or years ago to ensure that the company was prepared for the release of these technologies and that the framework for the website was preserved during preparations. That said, there’s a very good chance that we’ll see these announcements at the very least.
Oh yeah, and by the looks of it, it’s going to be the iPhone 5, despite the naming convention not matching up as the fifth generation iPhone.
