Looks like giant tech companies like Apple, Samsung, and HTC aren’t the only ones involved in patent disputes. Moshi, the California-based Mac, iPhone, and iPad accessory maker, announced yesterday that it has settled patent suits brought against three other companies.
Moshi filed the suits against these other companies because they were allegedly copying the patented accessory iVisor touchscreen protector, which is made to be applied bubble-free. According to Moshi, it has sold over three million iVisor units compatible with iPhone, iPad, and Android.
Moshi won permanent injunctions against PhoneDevil Ltd. and Shenzhen Membrane Precise Electron Ltd. that stops these two firms from selling products that infringe on the patent. The patent describes the touchscreen protectors with an “air gap” between the cover and screen. An earlier suit was also settled between Moshi and Splash Products LLC, where the latter agreed to pay a settlement fee and leave the market for these products.
