I was asked on Facebook today about how one would go about getting their photos condensed so they could email them to friends and family, as well as upload them quicker to Facebook and other web based applications. She made a comment that made mereminisceabout the early days of my Mac adoption. She said, “That’s the thing with Macs, it’s so simple but we try to make it really difficult as we are so used to windows that when we find out we think HELLO!” I can remember how many times I’ve had theeurekamoment she’s talking about. So, I thought this might be a great opportunity for me to give a quick tutorial on resizing your images with a built-in application that comes with all those shiny new Macs out there–iPhoto.
If you want to resize your photos, you don’t need any other fancy application, and there’s already a very good possibility that you’re using iPhoto to store and manage all your photos. Here’s how you do it:
- Open iPhoto and select the photo (s) that you want to resize.
- Click the file menu.
- Click export
- That first tab (File Export) is where we want to be. Every setting here lets you compress and shrink your photos to some extent.
- Select the size of the photo you want from the Size drop down menu.
- Click the Export button.
- Navigate to where you want to save the files too.
- Click Ok.
- Done!
