SquareTrade analyzed over 50,000 smartphones and concluded that not only was the iPhone the most reliable phone of the bunch, but it was also the most likely to get accidental drop-related damage.
It’s pretty “Captain Obvious” when you think about it, but the study concluded that only 2% of iPhone 4 owners found themselves having to get their phone serviced for a “non-accident malfunction” within the first year (Antennagate, Glassgate, and Bullshitgates not included).
Also found in the study was that a phone made of glass was the most likely to break when you drop it. We’re not exactly sure how many people didn’t see that type of result coming when Apple released the iPhone 4. If you drop glass, it shatters It’s not exactly a revelation to most, but the SquareTrade analysts did feel the need to say, “The data seems to suggest that the likelihood of drop damage is directly proportional to the amount of glass on the device.”
Apparently 77 percent of accident claims come from people who shattered the glass when dropping their iPhone.
So there you have it, directly from the Department of No-Kidding, the iPhone 4 is both the best smartphone and the worst smartphone on the market.
