I was just lamenting on Twitter yesterday about how video games these days aren’t all that difficult. The first game that came to mind was Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out on the NES. The early levels were a joke, but the farther you got in the game, the more impossible it became. By the time you made it to Tyson, you’d get destroyed. I don’t know one person who managed to beat him, without the aid of that stupid Game-Genie.
It looks like Tyson’s throwing his hand back into the video game ring, bringing Punch Out to the App Store. The game will be available for both the iPhone and the iPad. You won’t be fighting Mac this time around though. Instead, on route to fighting Tyson, you’ll be playing as Little Sammy. You’ll have to take on 10 other boxers before you get the chance to ring Tyson’s clock. The game may also feature in-game purchases for more fighters, including other athletes such as Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco, and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
I can’t wait to get my hands on this game, and I’m certain an entire generation of NES players are feeling the same way right now. For $0.99 cents, it’s going to be worth the price just for nostalgia alone. The game is not available yet, but should be coming to the App Store shortly. We’ll be sure to let you know once it comes out.
