After an NPD survey reported that the Android platform has a 7% lead on the iPhone in the first quarter of 2010, Apple has decided to respond.
Natalie Harrison, an Apple spokesperson, had this to say:
This is a very limited report on 150,000 U.S. consumers responding to an online survey and does not account for the more than 85 million iPhone and iPod touch customers worldwide.
The iPod Touch is almost never included in any of the statistics with the iPhone, and that is rather unfortunate. If the point is to get a feel of how many people are using a platform, it is disingenuous to leave out the iPod Touch.
