Security is about to get a lot stronger in iOS 8 thanks to a new app extension developed by the 1Password team.
In a blog post published today, Dave Teare — of 1Password fame — shows off the new security tools built into the company’s extension.
Thanks to new developer hooks in iOS 8, apps can take advantage of 1Password’s login tools without forcing users to navigate away from the app.
The plugin even makes use of TouchID technology included in the iPhone 5S.
Third party developers can also use the extension in their apps. AgileBits, the company behind 1Password, has published sample code on GitHub.
1Password just changed the iOS security game by itself (okay, with a little help from Apple, too). App extensions for iOS will change the way most of us user our devices on a daily basis.
As long as developers keep up with demand and keep integrating 3rd party extensions into their apps, a lot of new potential in the operating system could be unlocked.
Things are about to get interesting with iOS 8.
