There’s never been a better time to get rid of your old iPad in exchange for a little cash. Starting today, Best Buy is holding a two day event that lets you trade in your old, but still working, iPad 2 or iPad 3 and get a $200 Best Buy gift card in return. In some cases, you may actually get more than 200 bones, depending on the model and the condition of your device.
If you’re interested, you’ll have to trade in your old iPad at one of Best Buy’s retail store locations and the company will then recycle all the tablets. You can put the gift card towards a newer iPad model. The latest Retina display iPad sells for $499.99, so you can knock off quite a chunk with your gift card.
Best Buy ran a similar promotion back in June and offered customers a “free” iPhone 5 when trading in a working iPhone 4 or 4S. The retailer said it was the single biggest day for its trade-in business during that promotion so it only makes sense that Best Buy would want the same success from today’s iPad trade-in event.
The event doesn’t include the first-generation iPad or the iPad mini unfortunately, so you’ll have to wait for another trade-in event and see if they’ll be included then.
