TomTom, a popular mapping system, recently updated its iOS app bringing refreshed and updated maps, improved advanced planning, and other improvements.
According to TomTom, roads are always changed and an average of 15% of roads change every year so the newest version of TomTom comes with the latest and most up-to-date maps.
Advanced planning also comes to version 1.14 of TomTom, which lets you change any part of your pre-planned route without having to start from the beginning. Change your starting point, destination, or departure time and see how your drive and arrival time will be affected by the changes.
The last addition brought by the update lets you keep your settings. TomTom explains that if you use the iCloud backup feature you can now delete the app to free up space when you’re updating. To do this, make sure iCloud is enabled on your device, then open and close the app to make a backup. Next, delete the app to free up space and then re-download the updated version of TomTom right from the App Store.
TomTom also notes that this is the last version of the TomTom app that will support the iPhone 3G and second-generation iPod touch, as well as other devices with iOS 4.x.
The app works with the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. If you don’t already have the app, you can purchase it from the App Store for $59.99. The updated version of the App is available now.
