RIM first announced back in November that it would be officially unveiling its new BlackBerry 10 platform on January 30th and now the company has begun sending out media invitations to the event in New York City for the official launch.
RIM hasn’t revealed what exactly it plans to announce with regards to the new devices but the company has promised to announce both full-touch and QWERTY-equipped devices early next year. What we do know is that RIM is taking BlackBerry 10 in a whole new direction. It’s a completely new platform that replaces the BlackBerry OS as it is today.
On top of the launch news, RIM has also been seeding versions of the BlackBerry 10 software to its top enterprise and government customers to make sure they’re able to use the new platform and related services once it officially launches.
Enterprise and government contracts are probably more important to RIM than other companies so it’s not that surprising that that RIM is making sure they’re happy with the new platform before releasing it to everyone.
With that in mind, it’s only a matter of time until we start seeing leaks leading up to the announcements. Should we see anything worth reporting, we’ll be sure to pass it along.
